Walk the Ridge: Promoting Civility Within Our Differences

While a career as a marketing representative at IBM and an office manager for a chiropractic clinic helped ‘pay the bills’, Nellie has been a ‘wantrepreneur’ for over 25 years and keeps an active log of business ideas of which some are pursued; others reserved ‘for a later date’. While living in Virginia she established a home-based cupcake business named, ‘Sweet Nellies’, that expanded into cookies and cakes.

Currently Nellie is working on what she hopes will be her most gratifying accomplishment, Walk the Ridge, which is a social movement to restore civility and tolerance among people of different opinions and ideologies. This ‘business with a purpose’ has become her life mission and she is taking the message across the country to promote individuals building Circles of Civility in order to realize a kinder more civil nation.

Nellie is and always has been an active volunteer in the communities in which she has resided. While living in Manhattan Beach she has been involved as a program manager for the Young Entrepreneurs Academy, Leadership Manhattan Beach, Special Olympics, Mira Costa PTSA, Mira Costa Bands, and is on the board of the Manhattan Beach Hometown Fair, among other causes.

Nellie was born and raised in St. Louis, Mo and has lived in 8 different cities before coming to the beautiful city of Manhattan Beach, three years ago. In her free time she enjoys spending time with her family, hiking, running, biking and exploring beautiful SoCal.
