"Nevertheless, She Persisted: A Short History of Women in Medicine in the U.S."

Dr. Birnbaumer is residency trained in both Internal Medicine and Emergency Medicine and is Emeritus Professor of Emergency Medicine at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA.  Currently a Senior Clinical Educator in the Department of Emergency Medicine at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, Dr. Birnbaumer was Associate Program Director there for nearly 20 years. 

Dr. Birnbaumer has presented over 2,000 lectures locally, nationally and internationally on clinical and educational topics, and has a particular interest in teaching the teachers.  She has received several national awards, including the Outstanding Speaker of the Year and the Outstanding Contribution to Education Awards from the American College of Emergency Physicians.
